Rubsik: A Scoring Model for Student Research Papers in the Schools Division of Camarines Norte

The study aimed to develop Rubsik, a model rubric for evaluating the research papers of Grade 11-STEM students in the Division of Camarines Norte. It addressed the lack of a single standardized criterion for assessing research papers, which causes confusion and inconsistency in grading. A descriptive-evaluative-developmental design was utilized. The researcher employed Total Enumeration Sampling for the teachers and Stratified Random Sampling for the students to determine their level of knowledge before and after using Rubsik. The Rubsik model was developed based on the criteria of topic, content, methodology, expected results, references, and technical writing. It was then subjected to validation by experts using an adapted instrument from the DepEd LRMDS Evaluation Tool. Results revealed a significant increase in the performance of both students and teachers after using Rubsik, as well as a high level of acceptability from the evaluators. The effectiveness of Rubsik was proven as an alternative assessment tool that can help strengthen research skills, enhance the evaluation system, and promote innovative, authentic learning in the field of research. The use of Rubsik is recommended in all schools within the Division of Camarines Norte to establish a unified standard for evaluating research papers.
